Finley Gail Beeson

She is here! Finley Gail Beeson July 1st, 2012 6 lbs, 12 Oz
I started having consistent hard contractions on Saturday night around 7:30 pm. We timed them for an hour and they were 2-4 minutes apart for an hour and lasted for about a minute each, so we decided we better head to the hospital. I had just been to the doctor the day before and I was measuring 4+ cm dilated, and 100% effaced, and she had dropped to a 0. It is funny because on this day I had absolutley no contractions through the day, which was unusual for me because normally I would have them all day long, just not painful ones. So I didn't think at all that I would be going into labor anytime soon. I had been at a 4 and 100% effaced for a week as well, So I figured things were just stopped for awhile. We got to the hospital around 8:30 pm on saturday night (june 30th), and my contractions and babies heartbeat were monitored. They checked me and I was 5 cm dilated. They decided to keep me overnight but the nurse said she didn't think anything would happen. Come 5:30 am I started having HORRIBLE contractions, with lots of back pain. (Pretty much my whole labor was back labor.) I had already decided to go all natural. I didn't want to use narcotics or an epidural, mostly becuase I wanted to be completely there in the moment, and I wanted to feel what my body was telling me to do. Also, I absolutely HATE being numb... So somehow, I did it! It helped so much having my amazing doula, Amy Morrison. She did such a fantastic job at helping me with different positions and massaging my back through the whole 7 hours of active labor. I was measured at 5:30 am and was now at 7 cm dilated. the contractions just got harder after this.. at around 12 on sunday afternoon I was in some massive pain. When I look back on it now it makes me feel so lucky to have ben as my husband.. i remember looking up at one point and I was crying, and there ben was crying right along with me. (Im sure he loves that Im writting this). It means so much to me though because it just showed me how much he loves and cares about me. He was trying to keep the tears back to be strong for me, but it was hard for him not being able to help. My mom was in the room as well, and she was in the same boat. she had had back labor with 2 of her 6 labors, and went natural with all of hers too so she knew how bad this kind of labor was. such an emotional, but amazing time. At about 12:50 pm I went into transitional labor and pushed for 30 minutes... longest 30 minutes of my life! But once I heard that sweet sweet cry of hers It was all more then worth it. They handed her straight to me, and she was covered in vernix still (crisco baby!), but she was so wide awake and alert, just looking around taking everything in. It was perfect. I will never forget that moment, when I very first got to hold my baby girl. The last week and a half have been amazing.. she is such a good baby. I love her more then I ever thought possible.
